    Review

When Jasmine finds two lost pet rabbits, she knows she has to take care of them. She and her friend tom are trying to start a small pet care business to help cover the costs of all the strays she and her family take in, and these two rabbits—who she calls Dandelion and Clover—clearly need her help. Unfortunately, keeping them safe while she tried to find their owner is a bigger task than it seems. The two rabbits are escape artists!

When Dandelion and Clover escape from their makeshift hutch right before they’re due to go back to their owner, Jasmine sees her dreams of a pet care business going up in flames. She even misses the opportunity to enter the town fair’s competition, and she sorely needed the prize money for her startup costs! Luckily, the rabbits are found and safely returned. Their owner, a punk rocker named Grace explains that she named the rabbits Bonnie and Clyde due to their ability to escape from anywhere! Impressed by Jasmine’s compassion and hard work, she gifts Jasmine the money she won at the fair for her cakes. It looks like Jasmine’s dream isn’t over just yet!

A sweet entry in the Jasmine Green series, which delves into the needs of rabbits and the importance of providing safe, adequate housing for your pets. The illustrations bring the warm hearted story to life!

    Content Notes

    1. Jasmine sees a fox with a dead pheasant, not described in detail (p. 123). 2. After the judges told Manu and Ben that their miniature garden (styled like a graveyard) was not in “the right spirit” for the contest, Manu says he’s confused because “graveyards are full of spirits” (p. 129) - eg. he doesn't understand the context in which they have used 'spirit'.
