On a beautiful and magical night, a young wolf is entranced by the fireflies, and doesn't want the evening to end. But end it must, his mother gently reminds him, as she takes him on a journey of all the things that change ... and all those that do not. Visually stunning and extraordinarily heartwarming, this beautiful exploration of the journey of life, experienced through the eyes of a young cub and his mother, is the ultimate bedtime story or first book for parents everywhere. Through enchanting examples, this story charts the passage of time, and provides reassurance for little ones about the most important life lesson of all: that their parents love for them will never change, no matter what.

    Review

A young wolf loves to play by the moon and starlight, loves it more than anything else in the world. But, night after night, his mother eventually tells him it is time to stop, to come to bed and go to sleep. The little wolf doesn’t understand why—he would much rather play forever and ever. “What’s the point of things you love if they just go away”, he wonders?

His mother explains that everything changes, eventually. Time moves on and things grow, develop, and change. She explains that if everything was always the same, nothing would be special…it’s the change that make precious moments precious. The young wolf doesn’t understand, but trusts in his mother and her unconditional love, and one day when his own cub asks him the same question, his mother’s wisdom comes back to him as he finally understands the beauty and importance of change.

Filled with stunningly detailed illustrations and vibrant, contrasting colours that allude to changing seasons and the passage of time, this story teaches young readers why things in life grow and change, with a wonderful message that despite life’s inherent change, love between parent and child can be ever constant.
