The community garden on Red Gum Road is a special place for a little boy and his Nonna, as well as lots of his friends. Together they work hard and have lots of fun. He digs and waters with Maya, prances with the chickens with Eduardo, creeps around a sleeping dog with Maria, and gets lost with Zara. The little boy and Nonna and all of their friends have a little picnic until the sun sets and it’s time to head home again. But everyone will be there, waiting, the next time the boy and Nonna head off to work at the garden on Red Gum Road.
Filled with vibrant, colourful illustrations and children from all different walks of life, this is a sweet story about community, togetherness, and the joys of gardening. The community at Red Gum Garden is very diverse, allowing all young readers to see themselves on the page, while the obviously close relationship between the main character and his Nonna will be very sweet for parents and families.
