Review
Leah gets a notification from Explorer HQ that there’s a mission for the Secret Explorers! A group that spans the globe, the Explorers are all young people fascinated by nature. On this adventure, Leah (the biology expert) and Connor (the marine expert) are sent to the Chihuahua Desert to search for a missing wolf. The wolf is pregnant, and the wildlife conservation centre are worried that she might have a problematic birth—which would be terrible, since her species is so rare!
Leah and Connor set off across the desert with their new friend Rosa. They encounter dangerous animals—from a Gila monster to a puma—face down a dust storm, and forage for native plants. Eventually they find the wolf in a cave, along with her new babies!
This adventure from the Secret Explorers series can be read as a standalone book. Leah and Connor’s exploits are highly educational and spotted with moments of light-hearted humour. Black-and-white digital illustrations bring the characters and their surroundings to life. There is extra information about the desert and the animals and plants they encounter, as well as a glossary and quiz, included at the end of the book!
