Mila is a cardboard design engineer. She is currently designing and constructing a cupcake catapult with her little sister, Ivy.

However, things change when Ivy destroys their project, making cardboard confetti instead. Mila is devastated and wants nothing more to do with Ivy.

Mila continues to engineer - alone. But something is missing. Something that only Ivy can help with...
Maybe Ivy was making cardboard confetti for a reason?

How do sisters rebuild their relationship while engineering their next ultimate cardboard creation?

This tale of two sisters is a fun example of how different people work in different ways, and how we can discuss and harness those differences to get better results.

    Review

Mila and Ivy are sisters, friends and—most importantly—cardboard engineers! They love playing with cardboard and building new and exciting inventions together.

One day, when the sisters are building a cupcake catapult, Ivy gets a great idea—what this catapult needs is some cardboard confetti! Unfortunately, Ivy needs to destroy one of their other inventions to make her confetti, and on witnessing the ‘destruction’, Mila storms away to build a new catapult by herself.

When she’s finished, Mila realises something is still missing—she needs Ivy, and her ideas! The two sisters learn to work together, and their new and improved cardboard confetti catapult is better than anything they’ve built before.

Mila & Ivy is a very sweet story about working as a team and appreciating individual strengths and skills. The fun, playful illustrations and simple story draw readers into Mila and Ivy’s inventions, and encourage playfulness and teamwork, while providing an introduction to the concept that while others may see things differently from you, that doesn’t make them wrong.

A great book to prompt young readers to start making their own cardboard constructions.
